'To Sweden with love' by Graham Shearwood (my Dad!)
FREE SHIPPING
To Sweden with love is a true story, set in the early years of the 1970s, written by my Dad. It tells of a young English couple (my parents!) with stars in their eyes who leave the comforts of home to live in faraway Sweden.
How did they survive in a foreign land, long before the days of PCs, mobile phones and the music of ABBA? Why did they venture behind the Iron Curtain with a Danish taxi driver? How come they left Paris with nothing? Why did they raise a glass to their third button? What goodies did they get from England? Why can’t they kick the habit of going back to Sweden year after year? These, and other fascinating questions, are answered within. Beware, you may not be able to resist the urge to see for yourself.
ABOUT MY DAD
Graham Shearwood graduated in Mathematics with Honours from the University of Nottingham. More importantly, he met his future wife Wendy there. He was one of the world’s first computer programmers in the 1960s and he made a living writing software in England, Sweden, Holland and Australia. But most importantly to him, he helped to raise a family – their daughter Helen and their son Martin.
He always had it in mind to write a book. Now he has.
With an innate curiosity about what’s around the next corner, Graham loves to travel and to read of others’ travels. He likes language – in particular English, Swedish and Dutch – and tries hard not to confuse them. He enjoys looking at the stars and wondering.
Graham and Wendy are now retired, and live in a cottage where the river meets the sea in a remote corner of Western Australia.
To Sweden with love is Graham’s debut memoir.
