'The Polarity of Light' Framed Original

$1,150.00
Only 1 available

Digital Collage on Hahnemühle Torchon Fine Art Paper with 21 Karat Gold Leaf

Art size: 30 × 30cm (excluding frame)

Digital collage created with photographs of ordinary urban objects (like lampposts and rubbish bins) then hand embellished

About the art: ‘The Polarity of Light’ represents a persona created with only those aspects that are desired – the bright, happy, fun, ‘good’, positive parts that one wants to believe they are and portray to others. Having unconsciously lived this way for most of my adult life, burying the parts I could not look at, I am only recently beginning to understand the world of polarities. I have come to learn that the persona, created by the mind mostly without conscious awareness, is a mask, protecting what lies underneath – the true self, in its messy, vulnerable, contradictory, non-linear wholeness, absolutely perfect in its imperfections. My mask had to shatter to reveal and integrate what was hidden; an ongoing process, parts of which I barely survived, as I continue to dedicate myself to uncovering more.

“If we want to live our greatest lives, we must claim our wholeness, including the parts we dislike and the ones we fear. Denying them keeps us stuck; embracing them sets us free.”
